Major celebration at Farnborough International as organisation scoops two prestigious awards
Farnborough International is celebrating having won two awards: the AEO award for ‘Best UK Tradeshow over 8,000sqm’ on Friday, and an ‘Innovation in Aerospace Journalism’ award for its industry news channel FINN at the Aerospace Media Awards which took place in Paris on Sunday.
FINN also celebrated its second birthday having launched at the 2017 Paris Airshow.
Speaking about the awards, Gareth Rogers, CEO of Farnborough International said: “We’re utterly thrilled; this is an incredible endorsement of our work and a source of enormous pride for the entire organisation. We are a business that has taken great strides to develop over the last couple of years, creating a mind-set which pushes our boundaries and those of industry, and we believe this is reflected by this accolade.
“It’s a highly competitive industry and we were up against some very worthy contenders, anyone working in events knows that it is tough and demanding for all participants. However, Farnborough International is a team first and foremost, and this award is for every single person who worked on the Airshow, no matter the size of the contribution.
“Work is well underway on the 2020 Farnborough International Airshow and this fantastic AEO award will give the team a tremendous boost and push to achieve even more.”
The Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre was shortlisted in the ‘Venue of the Year’ category; the 20,000sqm venue opened last year and has quickly established itself as one of the South East’s preeminent event spaces.
This week, the Farnborough International team is at the Paris Airshow where the 2020 is being launched. With over a year to go, the July 2020 Airshow is set to be bigger and better than ever before, with more than 91per cent of exhibition space already sold.
